Cosmetic Bonding

composite_bonding_b4and_aft_01.jpgFor patients with teeth that have minor cracks, chips, or stains, bonding is a quicker, less expensive option than porcelain veneers. Depending on the extent of the damage, one visit is usually enough to repair the damaged tooth or teeth.

During the process, Dr. Malcolm will smooth composite resin onto the surface of the tooth. High-density light hardens the resin, which is then buffed and polished to create a uniform appearance with the rest of the teeth. Since the resin is flexible, it expands and contracts with the tooth and helps strengthen its structure.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

At Bright Smiles Family Dentistry, we are happy to offer white, tooth-colored fillings to our patients who have mild to moderate tooth decay. The fillings are made from composite resin, a substance that is safe and durable and requires less removal of the tooth to accommodate the filling.

Porcelain Veneers

veneers-before-after.pngVeneers look and function like natural tooth enamel and cover cracked, severely stained, or crooked teeth. As with natural tooth enamel, porcelain veneers reflect light off the dentin in the tooth, making them practically undetectable. Unlike crowns which cover the entire surface of the tooth, veneers are affixed only to the front surfaces of the teeth.

The procedure is done in three visits. The first visit is spent planning and making a map of your teeth and mouth using intraoral photography. During the second visit, Dr. Malcolm will remove enamel, make a mold of your teeth, and fit the temporary veneers in your mouth. Finally, a week later, Dr. Malcolm will remove the temporary veneers and replace them with the permanent porcelain veneers. The end result is a beautiful, natural smile!

LUMINEERS®

A great alternative to porcelain veneers! LUMINEERS® require little to no removal of tooth structure! LUMINEERS® are contact lens thin porcelain that are bonded directly to the front of your teeth to create dramatic changes to your smile. If you have discoloration, permanent stains, broken, or chipped teeth, LUMINEERS® can be the right solution to to correct those distortions and give you the smile of your dreams! Schedule an appointment today to see if LUMINEERS® are right for you!

Teeth Whitening

Bright Smiles Family Dentistry offers Zoom!® Advance Power bleaching system to whiten and remove stains from the teeth of our patients. Gentle and effective, the peroxide-based gel and laser light work together to remove tough stains and make your zoombeforeandafterphoto_1_.jpgsmile up to eight shades brighter.

The whitening procedure is performed in the office by Dr. Malcolm, who will apply a professional-strength whitening gel to newly cleaned teeth. While the special light activates the gel, you can listen to music or take a nap. You will see immediate results in under one hour!

 Invisalign®

invisalign_before_and_after.jpgInvisalign® is a good option for adults with overlapping, unevenly spaced, or crooked teeth and who need orthodontic work, but don’t want to wear conspicuous metal braces. Invisalign® uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth in approximately 6 to 18 months, roughly the same amount of time or less as traditional metal braces.

Invisalign® aligners are created from a 3D computer image of a bite impression from your mouth. And unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign® can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing and have fewer dietary restrictions. Aligners are changed every two weeks until your teeth are in the desired position, creating the smile you have always wanted!

Porcelain Inlays / Onlays

porcelain_inlay1.jpgPorcelain inlays are used to treat teeth that have decay lying within their indented top surfaces. They can also be used to replace old or damaged metal fillings. Inlay / onlay placement is usually carried out over two appointments. During your first visit, once decay and the old filling is removed, an impression of your tooth will be taken. A temporary inlay will be placed over the tooth. Dr. Malcolm will send the impression off to a dental lab, which will create the inlay to match your tooth’s specifications. When you return to the office, the temporary inlay will be removed and the permanent one will be placed carefully over your tooth.

Since inlays and onlays can be made from durable, tooth-colored porcelain, they offer much more enduring and natural-looking results than metal fillings. In addition, their customized nature allows Dr. Malcolm to securely bond them to the tooth surface, adding structural integrity and preventing bacteria from entering and forming cavities.

porcelain_onlay.jpgA porcelain onlay is similar to a dental crown in that it is designed to restore a tooth that is broken down so much that a filling is not enough to fix it. If too much of the tooth is missing, the tooth could fracture. A porcelain onlay covers most or all of the chewing surface of the tooth and strengthens it so that it won’t fracture.

Implant Restorations

Are you insecure about your smile because of a missing tooth? Implants look and feel like natural teeth and can be used to replace both single and multiple teeth. Consisting of a titanium post covered by a replacement tooth, it is a good option for patients who want a durable, long-term replacement for missing teeth. Implants can also act as a support structure for dental bridges or dentures in patients who are missing multiple teeth. Implants prevent the jaw from falling into disuse, the gums from receding, the surrounding teeth from shifting, and any potential bone loss, all of which occur when a missing tooth or multiple teeth are not replaced.

Bright Smiles Family Dentistry focuses on implant restorations. The type of implant you’ll receive depends on how many teeth will be replaced. For a single missing tooth, a crown made of ceramic or porcelain will be placed on top of the dental implant. For multiple missing teeth, implant-supported bridges or dentures, with one or more false teeth, may be used to replace missing teeth. After the initial preparation has been performed and you have healed, Dr. Malcolm will place and secure the implant crown, designed to blend with the other teeth. When the procedure is finished, you’ll have a healthier mouth and a natural-looking smile to show the world.
